The aim of my work is to broaden current knowledge of how teachers can help language learners achieve learner autonomy to a greater extent. I also clarify what the term, learner autonomy means, and what tools and strategies support learner-centred and autonomous learning environment. We have searched for the most useful learning strategies, methods, and tools such as cognitive and metacognitive learning strategies, logbooks, learning diaries, and training without claiming completeness. Finally, we also took a look at what impact learner autonomy has on students' language proficiency.
