My main objective was to argue that actions defined as symbolic suicides and the characteristic preliminary processes affecting the characters are Aronofskian traits. Having studied similarities and differences of self-destructive actions presented in the three films, I found that the psychological journey of the three protagonists can be well embedded into the theories of Durkheim and Ringel, who carried out influential research in the field of suicidology. Therefore, I conclude that the auto-aggressive gestures presented in the three films can be regarded as symbolic suicides
