This thesis explores gendered performativity in "Black Swan" and "The Wrestler" by Darren Aronofsky. It delves into the performativity of femininity and masculinity, analyzing the societal and cultural impacts on gender roles. The drawbacks and psychological implications of the gendered professions of ballet and wrestling are discussed, illustrating how these professions reinforce and challenge gender norms. This paper also examines hypersexualization and idealization of brutality in professional sports, revealing how this factors contribute to gender identity crises.
