The hypotheses forming the basis of the research are the following: first, regarding culture Ss’ knowledge is limited to some observable features; second, neither Ts nor Ss are conscious of the fact that they address culture in every lesson on English; third, only rarely do Ts compare the target and the native culture; fourth, Ss read little or no literature at all during the English lessons; fifth, Ss read short stories or simplified versions only if they read a literary text; sixth, literary texts are usually used to teach vocabulary and grammar and are not to teach culture.hu_HU
