The thesis introduces project work in ELT as a possible solution for the problems of lowmotivated classes. Besides motivating students the aim of the research was to find a new way for helping students learn new vocabulary more easily and with better results. As part of the research students created posters in cooperation with their classmates. Their motivational level and vocabulary acquisition was monitored by questionnaires and test papers. The results justified the hypothesis that using project work is an adequate method for motivating students but its usefulness regarding vocabulary acqusition was only partly justified. At the end of the research it was concluded that project work brings variety to the lessons as well as the opportunity to use the language in real situation. Although it has some disadvantages the work on projects offers a great possibility for students to particapate in the lesson actively and equally, make valuable contributions and be motivated in the learning process.hu_HU
