This thesis intends to prove that Hungarians took an active part from the beginnings in the birth of Hollywood film industry, especially the mentioned two compatriots made a considerably significant contribution in the foundation in Hollywood and the development of the American movie world. I will focus on lives and careers of two adventurous men, namely Adolph Zukor, and William Fox. In my research, my aim is to reveal the stations of their journey leading to success through their autobiographical writings, and employ critical works from both the American and the Hungarian contexts. Furthermore, I will also attempt to prove how both preserved strong ties to the native country, even after their apparent success in their new homelands. Nevertheless, before this, we need to understand their reasons of immigration: the historical, political, and economical aspects that made them leave this country.hu_HU
