In this thesis, I aim to analyse Information Structure (IS), its constituents, topic and focus, first generally, then in the context of English and Korean in separate parts. I will discuss information packaging, an idea introduced by Chafe (1976), along with research on Information Structure in general. Then I will take a look at topic and focus, IS in English, and finally IS in Korean, mainly focusing on the topic and focus markers un/nun and ka/i. Korean, being a relatively free word order language compared to English, exhibits different patterns at implementing focus and topic in the discourse. Lastly, I will briefly describe Double Nominative Constructions, which are quite unique structures of the Korean syntax.hu_HU
