Absztrakt

It has been approximated by the World Health Organisation that 240 million individuals are suffering from chronic hepatitis B (CHB) in the world and investigations show that majority of the affected people live in Asia and Africa by a prevalence of 75% and 12% respectively.HBV contains an envelope of lipoproteins, which has three glycoproteins on the surface of the envelope as surface antigens. The virion has two shelled and its diameter is 40-42 nm. The core or nucleocaspid of the virus is located within the envelope. There are five main phases of CHB with different patterns of liver histology, DNA amount, ALT level, HBeAg status and thus different reactions to antiviral therapy in each phase. CHB virus infection might be with no symptoms or it can lead to a long term inflammation of hepatic tissue or chronic hepatitis which can cause cirrhosis after years. In this case the chance for developing the hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is increased
