The aim of this essay is to give an overview of Mexican immigration to the United States of America in the twenty-first century. The essay also analyzes the position of children of immigrant parents, and how they can integrate into the American society. The essay will also compare the immigration policies and attitudes of the Obama and the Trump administrations with focus on the differences in deportations, such as the target groups of deportation and the reason behind it. Furthermore, the question of how Obama tried to support specific groups of immigrants to gain citizenship by creating opportunities for achieving legal status is also analyzed, together with the question of how immigrants can deal with the difficulties and changes during both administrations and how those changes affect their lives.
