For successful therapy of one of the most common disorders amongst those patients presenting with malocclusions, class II malocclusion must be correctly diagnosed prior to any therapy being undertaken, to ensure the best possible course of treatment. The most prevalent cause of skeletal Class II disorder patients is mandibular retrognathism. Based on the level of patient compliance, fixed orthopaedic, removable or appliances incorporating both functions can be used in the course of treatment for patients. Fixed orthopaedic appliances are designed and used for those patients who exhibit noncompliance. Fixed orthopaedic appliances is one of the therapies for non-growing patients because of the need for more aggressive treatment, due to the minimal development remaining in those individuals. Class II malocclusion is remedied by orthopaedic appliances by utilising, eliminating, or triggering muscle forces, tooth eruption and development.
