The subject of this dissertation is to examine the culture-related issues of the English language in Enterprise I-II course books, written by Virginia Evans and and Jenny Dooley. These books are pre-intermediate course books to secondary grammar school students. The Enterprise Series are colorful, well-structured and combine the best traditional and contemporary approaches of language teaching. This dissertation is divided into three parts: The first part tries to give a short overview about culture. It collects the most important ideas and explains the importance of teachingthe culture of the second language. The second part of this dissertation is a research which examins the teachers’ and students’ opinions about teaching and learning English culture. This part also analyzes the competence of Enterprise I-II course books concerning cultural materials. The third part, the last part of my dissertation, is the conclusion that summarizes the experiences and contains further recommendations.hu_HU
