This thesis analyses New English File Intermediate Student’s Book from various perspectives, but the emphasis is on the developing of the four basic language skills: reading, listening, speaking and writing. In the first chapter of the dissertation the reader is familiarized with the general characteristics of effective teaching materials and whether or not the course book from the title possesses these. The second chapter is specialized in the examination of the four basic skills: their constituents and the way they can be and are developed by the book. The third chapter presents the supplementary materials supporting the work based on the course book, and in the last chapter the reader is provided with the opinion of a group of students about New English File Intermediate (which they are learning from).hu_HU
