Expectations Regarding The Role Of English As A Second Language In The Acquisition Of Spanish

Abstract

Target features in acquisition as knowledge of aspectual distinctions in Spanish requires native speakers of Hungarian to remap semantic concepts regarding the temporal status of events onto new morphological configurations. I hypothesize that those concepts are taken from both the native language (Hungarian) and second language (English) in the case of the third language (Spanish). I express my suggestions for the role of English (as L2) in the acquisition of the Spanish language based on theories of linguistics rather than specific data.
