My thesis will explore the potential of video games in Second Language Acquisition (SLA), how they can be used in teaching English as a Second Language (L2) and how much impact these games already have on learners according to themselves even with the lack of focus on video games by most school systems. Using a questionnaire I gathered data about 24 university students, focusing on their habits and past experiences with video games, the effects of such video games on their English vocabulary and as students, asking for their perspective on whether video games can be used as teaching material. After articulating the most important points and presenting each and every answer I received on the questionnaire and analyzed them, I concluded that video games can indeed be used as teaching materials, there are multiple ways to use them, but it is highly advised to keep them mainly as homework exercises.
