Absztrakt
The main aim of this present work is to analyze two novels, namely Daphné du Maurier’s Rebecca (1938) and Margaret Atwood’s Lady Oracle (1976) on the basis of the same aspects, that are the themes of gothic space, gothic family and marriage and their presentation in the novels. I chose these two texts because at first sight they seem to be fully different, but in fact, they share many common points that become more evident if we make them in opposition with the earlier, traditional gothic texts.
