The purpose of this essay is to explore the effect of computer assisted language learning (CALL) in the primary school, in the field of teaching grammar. Although grammar teaching has become integrated with activities focusing on meaning and is taught more through examples than by using grammatical terminology, in the case of primary school learners I find it essential to focus on teaching grammar on its own. In my thesis I will provide a historical overview of computer assisted language teaching and learning as well as that of the phases of CALL. I will also provide theoretical reasons for CALL instruction design, and I will try to show the role changes for teachers and students, the role of multimedia in language teaching and the advantages of CALL.hu_HU
