We have been trying to achieve different forms of immortality since the beginning of time and we do not seem to stop this quest anytime soon. However, the primary problem of immortality is not in the way of achieving it, but in the way of living with it. Even after centuries of consideration, most literary and filmic representations still seem to disagree with the very thought of eternal life and believe that there is no setting idyllic enough to make us happy forever. With recent skyrocketing advancements in technology, it has become exponentially more important to talk about this: Why are we trying to achieve something so recklessly with basically no positive concept of how to cope with it? This paper verbalises the opinion formulated by literary and filmic representations focusing on science fiction and vampire fiction.hu_HU
