The thesis illustrates women character's duality after marriages and having children in Kate Atkinson's novels Behind the Scenes at the Museum (1995) and Human Croquet (1997). In order to prove the duality in women character's personality, the thesis examines those factors which have an effect on their emotions. Finally, the thesis shows some solutions offered by the novels for women's altering personalities which proves the existence of maternal duality in Atkinson's fictions.hu_HU
