This thesis shall examine various ways of transgression in Jessie Burton’s novel The Miniaturist (2014). It is ought to show the Dutch identity, which progressed to sexually transgressive action made by the character of the novel. It was regarded as horrendous and destructive act that lead to changes in the community. The public’s response for the individual’s transgressive behaviour was resistance as a form of the defence mechanism. For this reason the tragic death of the individual was inevitable.hu_HU
