Absztrakt
Psychedelics (5-HT2a agonists) are psychoactive substances that have been known and used for their various effects on different branches of cognition such as time/visual perception, awareness, orientation, language and speech, executive function etc...In this paper, firstly, the therapeutical effects of psychedelics are linked to their unique chemical structure-activity relationships (SAR), and shown that its various modifications such as ring substitution, methylation, halogenation etc.. lead to different receptor affinities, leading to markedly different functional efficacy and potency. Secondly, recent studies showed different mechanism of actions of psychedelics on selective receptors determine the therapeutic effect as well, which lead to significant changes in visual/time perception, attention and memory. All individual effects combined, psychedelics pose significant treatment options for anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders and addiction. There are also studies showing recreational use of small quantities in the sense of “microdosing” may provide great benefit for cognitive performance, vitality, creativity, productivity, focus, memory and intelligence.
