A talajheterogenitás és a növényzet összefüggései szikes területeken Vizsgálataink két - eltérő léptékű, azonban szikeseken a talaj-növényzet kapcsolat szempontjából egyaránt meghatározó – kérdéskörre irányultak: 1. A talajtulajdonságok és a növényzet közötti összefüggések feltárása változatos mikrodomborzatú kiskunsági szoloncsák szikes területen A Péteri-tó országos jelentőségű védett természeti területen, Duna-Tisza közi Homokhátság keleti peremén elhelyezkedő kutatási területen arra kerestük a választ, hogy a mikrodomborzat és a talajtulajdonságok változásai hogyan befolyásolják a növényzet térbeli mintázatát és a mikrokörnyezeti eltérések indukálnak-e különbségeket a növényfajok ökofiziológiai sajátságaiban. A kutatási területünkön növényzeti leírást készítettünk és jellemeztük a szikes növényzet zonációsorát. Transzekt mentén végzett növényzeti felvételezés és talajmintavétel adatainak cluster-elemzése alapján elkülönült kvadrátcsoportok egyértelműen megfeleltethetők voltak a domborzati viszonyok alapján kirajzolódó növényzeti zónáknak. A talajtulajdonságok a sóakkumulációs folyamatok érvényesülésének mértékével összhangban meghatározták a növényzet térbeli elrendeződését. A szikes térszinen adott talajnedvesség érték mellett a talaj vízpotenciál-talajnedvesség (v%) görbe alacsonyabb vízpotenciál értéket mutatott, mint a magasabban fekvő homokterületen, ami a halofiton növényzet számára ugyanolyan talajnedvesség érték mellett nehezebb vízfelvételt jelent. A vizsgált halofiton növényfajok (Lepidium crassifolium W. et K., Puccinellia limosa (Schur) Holmb.) alacsonyabb K+/Na+ arányt mutattak a levélben, mint a xerofiton fajok (Festuca pseudovina Hack., Achillea collina Becker ex Rchb.), a L. crassifolium “levél/szár nátrium-felhalmozóként”( K+/Na+ gyökér: 2,61, levél: 0,21), míg a P. limosa “levél nátrium-kizáróként” (K+/Na+ gyökér: 2,23, levél: 1,75) jellemezhető. A halofitonok levélbeli prolin akkumulációja jelentős volt. A L. crassifolium prolin akkumulációja jelentősen eltér a különböző növényzetborítású mikroélőhelyeken. A kisebb összborítású helyeken nagyobb mértékű levélbeli prolin akkumuláció, alacsony ozmotikus potenciál és magas mezofillum-szukkulencia (Sm) értékek mutatkoztak. A PSII potenciális fotokémiai hatékonyságát jelző Fv/Fm értékei a déli órákban mindegyik faj esetében csökkentek. A L. crassifolium, illetve az A. collina esetében alacsonyabb déli Fv/Fm értékeket mértünk, ami a két faj nagyobb fotoinhibíciós érzékenységére utal. 2. A Pannon-medence jellegzetes obligát halofiton nemzetségének - Suaeda Forskål ex Scop. (Chenopodiaceae) - nomenklatúrai, morfológiai és taxonómiai revíziója és a Suaeda taxonok elterjedési sajátságainak megismerése a talajtulajdonságok elemzésével A nomenklatúrai, morfológiai, taxonómiai és chorológiai bizonytalanságok, félreértelmezések tisztázása céljából a nemzetség magyarországi taxonjainak (Suaeda pannonica (Beck) Graebn., Suaeda prostrata Pall., Suaeda salinaria (Schur) Simk.) teljes körű revízióját végeztük el. Összeállítottuk a növények részletes morfológiai leírását. Másrészt új, elsősorban S. salinaria adatok kerültek elő a taxon ismert elterjedésének NY-i pereméről. Tisztázódott annak az általánosan elfogadott florisztikai-biogeográfiai álláspontnak a tarthatósága, hogy a Suaeda pannonica névvel illetett taxon pannon endemikus. Mivel a Flóraművek S. pannonica növényként a közelmúltig tévesen a pannóniai flórában jelenlévő kisebb termetű és kis magvú sóballát tartották számon, a korábban endemikusként kezelt taxonra irányuló kutatási eredmények teljes körűen átértékelésre szorulnak. Országos kiterjedésű termőhely-vizsgálataink alapján a felszín közeli rétegben HCO3- és CO32- anion-dominanciájú, és pH(H2O) >10 értékekkel rendelkező talajokon S. pannonica a jellemző taxon. A vizsgált talajtulajdonságok esetében az értéktartományok terjedelme a legszűkebbnek a S. pannonica esetében mutatkozott, e specializálódott jelleg alátámasztja endemikus voltát. A S. pannonica–hoz képest a vizsgált talajparaméterek adattartományai az eurázsiai elterjedésű S. prostrata és S. salinaria irányában fokozatosan növekednek, a három faj toleranciatartománya e fajsorrendben szélesedik. Relationship between soil heterogeneity and vegetation in saline area In the focus of our interest there were two issues. Although their scale is different, they are equally important in saline areas concerning the relationship between soil and vegetation. 1. Revealing relationships between soil characteristics and vegetation in a solonchak saline area of the Kiskunsag with varied microreliefs Our aims were to find out how do the changes in the microrelief and soil characteristics of a saline habitat at Péteri-tó protected area, on the edge of the Sand Ridge in Kiskunság effect the spatial pattern of the vegetation and whether the differences in the microhabitats induce differences in the ecophysiological characteristics of the species. Detailed vegetation description was compiled and the zonation system of the saline vegetation was described. The results of cluster analysis of both the soil characteristics and the relative plant cover supported the zone boundaries outlined by the transect. Soil characteristics along with intensity of salt accumulation processes (i.e. with distance from water table) determined the spatial pattern of the vegetation. Investigating water potential curves we concluded that water potential is much lower in the saline zone as in the higher elevation of the sandy zone which presents more adverse water uptake conditions of halophyte species at same soil moisture levels (v%). The studied halophytes (Lepidium crassifolium W. et K., Puccinellia limosa (Schur) Holmb.) showed lower leaf K+/Na+ ratios than either of the xerophytes (Festuca pseudovina Hack., Achillea collina Becker ex Rchb.). Of the halophytes, L. crassifolium could be described as a “leaf/shoot sodium accumulator”( K+/Na+ root: 2.61, leaf: 0.21), while P. limosa as a “leaf sodium avoider” (K+/Na+ root: 2.23, leaf: 1.75). Leaves of the halophytes accumulated a remarkable amount of proline. Proline accumulation in L. crassifolium significantly varies in different microhabitats. At patches with lower total plant cover, plants accumulated higher levels of proline, in the same time lower osmotic potential and higher mesophyll succulence (Sm) values could be measured. All species showed decreased Fv/Fm values describing potential photochemical efficiency of PSII around noon. L. crassifolium and A. collina showed lower Fv/Fm values at noon denoting higher sensitivity to photoinhibition. In case of NPQ and VAZ pool interspecific differences were detectable. In case of L. crassifolium, the decrease of Fv/Fm values at noon was more obvious in microhabitat with low total plant cover than with high total plant cover. 2. Nomenclatural, morphological and taxonomical revision of the obligate halophyte genus of Suaeda Forskal ex. Scop. (Chenopodiaceae) and relationship between distribution features of the Suaeda taxa and soil characteristics. .In order to clarify uncertainties and misunderstandings concerning the morphology, taxonomy and chorology we have completely revised the taxa of the genus occurring in Hungary (Suaeda pannonica (Beck) Graebn, Suaeda prostrata Pall., Suaeda salinaria (Schur) Simk.). We have compiled a comprehensive morphological description of the taxa. Based on the evaluation of the synthesized differential features, we have compiled an identification key for the Hungarian Suaeda taxa. Based on detailed morphological study of the taxon S. salinaria we have concluded, that the variability range of S. salinaria and the phenomenon that there are several apparent densifications in its form series underpin the polymorph nature of the taxon. Typical of all S. salinaria populations in the Eupannonicum is the uniformly narrow range in seed size (maximum seed length: 1.40 mm), in contrary to those produced by individuals of S. salinaria populations in the Transylvanian-basin (maximum seed length: 1.75 mm). This difference provided us for the assumption of the potentially polytypical character of the taxon. Comparing the compiled archive and recent distribution map local habitat losses could be observed in several regions in case of S. pannonica and S. prostrata. On the other hand, formerly overlooked regions yielded new records in case of S. salinaria, from the Western edge of the taxon’s known distribution area. The plausibility of the floristic-biogeographical opinion concerning the endemic status of the taxon called Suaeda pannonica was clarified. Since all authors looked at the lesser, small seed sized Suaeda taxon mistakenly as the endemic S. pannonica, all descriptions and reports investigating the formerly endemic-treated taxon, must be re-evaluated. Investigating habitat requirement, soils characterized by HCO3- and CO32- anion dominance in the upper soil layers and by a pH over 10 are typical for S. pannonica. S. pannonica had the most restricted tolerance range, this specialization supports its endemic nature. Compared to this taxon, soil parameter values of S. prostrata and S. salinaria with Eurasian distribution ranged more widely, implying that the tolerance range of the three taxa gradually widens in the above mentioned species order.hu_HU
