This thesis summarizes the circumstances and acts passed by the U.S. government that led to the development of intergenerational trauma among Native Americans. The first chapter focuses on the boarding school era and the harsh circumstances there that contributed to the development of intergenerational trauma. The second chapter discusses the Dawes Act and its influence and effect on the tribes.
