Learning a foreign language can always be complicated, especially because it is built up of many different parts, for example speaking, using the grammar correctly, listening comprehension, and having extensive vocabulary. At the same time, it also requires a level of dedication and confidence that learning other subjects do not (Arnold 2000). The aim of present study is to examine which aspects of learning English cause the most anxiety to learners of different age groups while getting to know the circumstances and background of their English learning. This aim was achieved with qualitative research, more specifically with focus-group interviews. The results show that despite the fact that the majority of studies highlight anxiety related to speaking skills, the anxiety-inducing parts of learning English vary from person to person. The novelty value of this study is that several age groups were included among the interviewees, thus their EFL experiences and attitudes turned out to be diverse. However, it is important to note that due to the small number of participants the results cannot be generalized.
