This thesis highlights the importance and impact of mindfulness and meditation techniques on the quality of life at large, and their applications in both clinical and non-clinical settings. It also highlights mindfulness research opportunities for mindfulness interventions and community applications. Several studies have demonstrated that mindfulness practices and training are protective factors, positively influence cognitive resilience, emotional balance, memory function, high-stress functioning, and mental health, as well as decreasing anxiety, depression, and burnout levels. Individual improvements in depression, anxiety, and stress were also predicted by practice frequency, which was remarkable. Research furthermore suggests that mindfulness meditation could be a low-cost intervention to help individuals cope with the psychological repercussions of crises like COVID-19.hu_HU
