The thesis focuses on George III (1760-1820), the charges that were bring aginst him and what led to the loss of the American Colonies. The aim of the thesis is to refute the charges of madness and tyranny by reviewing the aftermath of the Glorious Revolution (1688-89), the Bill of Rights(1689), the British Constitution and several theories regarding George's illness. The paper also concentrates on how the Seven Years' War (1756-1763) and the political crisis of the 1760s contributed to the American War of Independence (1775-83). Overall, the goal of the paper is to prove George III was only a misunderstood monarch instead of a "mad tyrant" who lost the colonies.
