In my thesis, I analyse the concept of the double. My objects of exploration are R. L. Stevenson's Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray, BTS' 2019 album The Map of the Soul: Persona, and two films: Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan and Bong Joon-Ho's Parasite. My thesis introduces psychoanalytical, neuro-scientific and literary explanations to the reader. I show how the repressed self can be dangerous if it comes back to the surface. I have chosen culturally and timely different works of art in order to give a broader picture, moving from the personal level to the level of society.
