Although most of us cannot or do not want to perceive it, the media are not just a means of advertising and selling products, but they are also means of transmitting ideals and thus they play a crucial role in our lives, unnoticeably changing the way we think and feel. One of the most important aspects from which we can and should look at the media and advertising is the pressure that they exert on women. We are exposed to thousands and thousands of advertisements day by day which unavoidably and often unnoticeably build ideals and stereotypes into our minds which can be really harmful especially in the case of young girls and women, because they change their images of themselves making them feel uncomfortable in their own bodies by giving them an unreachable ideal of beauty and an absurd definition of femininity.
