Absztrakt

My intention is in this paper is to elaborate mainly on the cultural and social differences of the West and the East based on tea, tea traditions and their effects on some fields of life including the mentality of people, social life and nationality. I also discuss the life and hard work of people on tea plantations and estates in India, and how they are treated as modern slaves. I mean to inspect these aspects from a postcolonial point of view through three documentaries (All in This Tea, The Bitter Taste of Tea, and Tea: A Revolution Brewing) directed by Westerners for Western people to give a better insight for people with a Western mind. I also take into consideration the discourse of food studies and orientalism when it comes to Western notions of tea consumption.
