With the advent of the new millennium, social inequality has become a widely discussed subject in both public and media discourse. More and more people are living in poverty, which is contributing to the widening of the social gap between the richest and the poorest. Following the rise in insecurity and inequality across the globe, a new class structure has emerged: the precariat. Globalization has turned them into the unwanted, disenfranchised members of society who lack a collective voice. I wish to raise awareness of the plight of the precariat, who are trapped in a cycle of poverty, through writing my thesis. For this purpose, I will analyze Bong Joon Ho's Parasite (2019), a film that clearly illustrates the underlying issues of the uneven hierarchy.
