Free movement of goods and services in the EU and in Tunisia-EU relations: reality and challenges

Absztrakt

This thesis aims to compare from one hand the free movement of goods and services in the European Union and from the other hand EU relations, regarding the movement of the aforementioned, with Tunisia as a Mediterranean partner. Through this study, we will analyze what and how this freedom is ensured in the EU while looking at the legal framework and the assistance of the European Court of Justice (ECJ) to enforce it. We will pay specific attention to the development of this market which is in transition to the digital market where a whole strategy and project were established by the EU. Just after tackling some challenges that are facing this project, we will go ahead in evaluating the impact of these freedoms on the economic, legal, and political power of the European Union. Coming to the nature of this movement with other non-European partners namely Tunisia. Therefore, examining the historical cooperation and the legal core for it even the potential legal framework (DCFTA) and its future, especially with the high criticism rate linked to its content. The latter part will concentrate on DCFTA negotiations, the scope, and reasons that may justify resistance from the Tunisian side to the EU proposal in its current version. Finally, some recommendations will be suggested to achieve a win-win deal for both partners.
