In the first part of the thesis I will present a few theories of motivation set up by well-known linguists in the field of second language acquisition including Deci, Ryan, Dörnyei, Ottó, Edmondson, Keller, Gardner and Bandura. I will present a few relevant studies as well. In the second part of my thesis I will state the reason for my choice of the subject, set up my hypotheses concerning the results of my research and introduce the four schools of my choice as well.
