In this thesis, the main focus is on race and racial questions, such as racial discrimination mainly during the years of the Obama-era, the changes, either positive or negative, regarding the attitude toward race, then how Barack Obama served as a beacon of hope in the lives of African-American people, how he tried to start lessening the disenfranchisement of Black citizens, and finally how after Obama’s presidency the new Trump administration tried to roll back Obama’s efforts.
