The Use of Latinate Vocabulary by Shakespeare

Abstract

My thesis aims to analyze how Latin influenced the English language in the Renaissance, the period when the greatest English poet, William Shakespeare lived. I focus on his use of Latinate borrowings, expressions, what effect they had on the audience in his play entitled A You Like It - more precisely in Act V in the dialogue of two side-characters, Touchstone and William.
