This thesis investigates whether there is a correlation between students' vocabulary learning strategy use and their results on vocabulary progress tests. By observing pre-intermediate and intermediate students' patterns of strategy use, the primary goal is to see whether intermediate students demonstrate higher levels of strategy use, both in frequency and range. If so, another aim is to examine whether higher level of strategy use is reflected in better result on vocabulary tests. Although research findings confirm that there is a correlation between students' vocabulary learning strategy use and their learning outcomes, still, vocabulary knowledge is not just a matter of quantity but quality of use of vocabulary learning strategies. For learning success, students must be conscious in selecting and using strategies appropriately to the learning context.hu_HU
