In the past few years, many studies have been carried out on how to help autistic children at school in general. The present study is about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in both first and second language acquisition of children with autism, and how such children differ from their peers, what makes learning and communication harder for them. Another aim is to introduce a few methods, which can be used in foreign language classes to help these children in learning a new language. These methods include adjusting the environment to these children’s needs, not using metaphors and pretend games, avoiding writing if they also have dysgraphia, using extra visual aid and colours, as well as improving their communication skills. The paper will also illustrate some of the described methods in a case study of a 15 year-old boy who has Autism Spectrum Disorder. The results of this case study prove that children with autism can learn a second language, however, they do need special attention from their language teacher just like they require extra explanations and sometimes help.
