Pulsatilla grandis Wender. (Ranunculaceae) is a rare and threatened Natura 2000 species living in Central Europe. Its number is declining throughout Europe, their populations are threatened mainly by habitat loss and succession caused by the lack of moving. In our study we compared the phytosociological characteristics of two populations in Balatonalmádi and on the Csatár Hill near Veszprém, Hungary). Data of association tables was evaluated with KEVEY & HIRMANN (2002) computer programs. The evaluation of tables showed that there was no significant differences between the two sites, so both studied grasslands can be classified as Chrysopogono-Caricetum humilis Zólyomi (1950) 1958 associations. The presence of protected species reflects the high nature conservation value of the studied grasslands. Our results can help to understand the ecology of this protected species and to develop its conservation strategy.hu_HU
