| dc.description.abstract | Alternatív növényfajok gyomirtási technológiájának fejlesztése Hazánkban, valamint világviszonylatban is a kisebb ökológiai lábnyommal termeszthető növények közé tartozik a fehérvirágú csillagfürt (Lupinus albus L.), tavaszi bükköny (Vicia sativa L.), szöszös bükköny (Vicia villosa Roth.) A hatások jelentős évjáratfüggősége ugyanakkor több kezelésnél is igazolódott. Development of weed control technologies for alternative crop species White lupine (Lupinus albus L.), common vetch (Vicia sativa L.), hairy vetch (Vicia villosa Roth.), and buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum Moench.) are among the crops that can be grown with a smaller ecological footprint both in Hungary and worldwide. The quantity and quality of seed yield may be seriously threatened by weed species occurring in the production area. The aim of this research was to investigate pre- and post-emergence chemical weed control options, quantify the effects of the treatments on the crops, and assess their consequences for seed yield and purity. Small-plot field experiments were conducted between 2022 and 2025 at the Research Institute of Nyiregyhaza, University of Debrecen, using a randomized complete block design with four replications under varying soil and weather conditions. Crop condition was assessed using NDVI values measured with a handheld Trimble GreenSeeker HCS-100, while herbicide injury was evaluated on a 1-9 visual phytotoxicity scale. Seed yield and foreign-matter content after cleaning were also determined. Relationships among the variables were evaluated using Spearman’s rank correlation, while differences among treatments were examined using Duncan’s multiple range test. NDVI measurements proved suitable for the characterization of crop health and herbicide effects. A significant positive relationship was observed between NDVI and seed yield, whereas phytotoxicity was significantly and negatively associated with seed yield. Among the investigated species, white lupine was the least sensitive to herbicides. Several pre-emergence treatments, particularly flumioxazin, pendimethalin, dimethenamid-P, pethoxamid, clomazone, and metobromuron, showed adequate selectivity. Pre-emergence application of diflufenican caused no phytotoxicity; therefore, further investigation is warranted. Among the post-emergence treatments, halauxifen-methyl, sulfosulfuron, and diflufenican were identified as active ingredients worthy of further testing. In common vetch, further evaluation is recommended for pre-emergence flumioxazin, clomazone, and metribuzin, as well as for the post-emergence combination of metazachlor + quinmerac. In buckwheat, the post-emergence application of clopyralid, mesotrione, and the lower rate of metribuzin warrants further investigation. In hairy vetch, pre-emergence flumioxazin, metribuzin, and diflufenican, together with post-emergence metazachlor + quinmerac, bentazon, and diflufenican, were identified as promising treatments for further testing. However, marked year-to-year variation in treatment effects was demonstrated for several herbicides. Treatments that injured the crop and caused stand thinning generally resulted in higher weed-seed and plant-residue content in the harvested seed. The findings provide a scientific basis for the further development of selective weed control technologies for minor crops and for additional studies supporting the authorization of safe herbicide uses. | |
