One of the most important goals of the European Union is the free movement of labor, which can be deduced from the four freedoms. The EU and the Member States must regulate the issue without discrimination. No distinction can be made based on protected grounds, as set forth in the Directives and Treaties. It is also important for the EU to avoid differentiation between Member State citizens, moreover it is a huge task for the community to apply uniform rules to non-national workers.
