This thesis attempts to investigate strategic planning in platform-based industries concerning Alibaba and Amazon as main case studies. It covers how these companies use strategies like the SWOT, TOWS, Ansoff and QSPM matrices to sustain their competitive positions. PEST and Porter's Five Forces are analytical tools that assess the external pressures and environmental influences affecting how companies operate. This research then explores internal strengths and weaknesses through IFEM, providing growth recommendations for Alibaba as well as Amazon. Finally, the research highlights strategic flexibility for maintaining a digital edge in changing markets over time.
