The aim of writing this study is to provide a general description of causativity and to investigate how children acquire certain constructions encoding transitivity. This thesis shows how syntactic information serves as a source for verb learning. I intend to examine through an experiment Hungarian children’s understanding of transitive and intransitive constructions and attempt to establish at what age these kids have verb-general knowledge of both transitive and intransitive argument structures using sentence-picture matching task.hu_HU
