In my thesis I am going to examine how different manifestations of the notion of dependence are present in the play A Streetcar Named Desire written by Tennessee Williams. I have chosen this topic because I am particularly interested in gender studies, and in A Streetcar Named Desire there are many issues in the intergender relationships of the protagonists that are worth dealing with. The focus of the gender issues in my thesis and the purpose of it is to inquire into the notion and dynamics of dependence in the play.
