Our software is able to calculate the rate of biomass-based energy in Hungary’s energy system considering the agroecological possibilities; and which plants and transformation technologies ensure the highest amount of net energy according to actual knowledge. Numerous plant species were considered in the course of analysis assuming constant, high quality of agrotechnics and genetic basis. The production sites which are necessary for food and fodder production were not allowed for energetic utilization, in addition some exclusions were defined in the topic of nature conservation and environmental politics. The model was constructed on digital database, and it prefers the plant species and technologies with highest net energy production on several production sites by ecological niche of each plant. Hungary’s sustainable biomass potential is able to calculate by adding the maximum amount of energy available from organic residues to net energy production.
