A név viselése egy olyan magától értetődő, mindennapi jelenség, amely az ember életében ritka alkalmakkor kerül a középpontba. E ritka alkalmak többnyire a családdal, a családi élettel kapcsolatban adódnak, s ilyenkor a névadónak, illetve a névviselőnek döntést kell hozni: milyen nevet válasszon, viseljen. E döntés mind a közösség (társadalom), mind az állam (szabályozó tényező) érdekei mentén születhet meg, s ezek az érdekek mederbe terelik a szabad névválasztás folyamát. Az értekezésben e meder feltérképezésére vállalkozom, s ehhez a jog tudományának vizsgálódó eszközei mellett más, a név viselését, a magyar névrendszer jellegét feltáró tudományok módszereit és eredményeit egyaránt igénybe veszem.Bearing a name is such an axiomatic, everyday phenomenon that does not often get in the focus of attention in one’s life. These rare occasions usually come about in connection with family and family life, and in such cases the person who gives and respectively bears the name has to make a decision: what name to choose, what name to bear. This decision is taken in line with the interests of both the community (society) and the state (a regulatory factor), and these interests channel the process of freely choosing a name in one course. In the discourse I venture to explore this course and in order to achieve this, apart from considering the analytical tools of the science of law, I will also take into account the methods and results of sciences exploring name-bearing and the character of the Hungarian name system.
