Foreign Language Anxiety Among Tenth Graders During English Lessons in a Secondary Grammar School in Hungary

Abstract

In the present study, I intended to examine what factors, influence Hungarian learners’ willingness to communicate in English and whether it is connected to their language anxiety. The study included students who learn English as a foreign language in Hungary. The participants consisted of 20 students who attend a secondary grammar school in Fehérgyarmat and have been learning English for two years. Also, the following questions were formulated:

Why are foreign language learners’ unwilling to speak in front of the class? Are there any relations between foreign language learners’ unwillingness to communicate in English and foreign language anxiety? What are the sources of foreign language anxiety?
