The problem of gender and heteronormativity in the the hungarian version of the Billy Elliot musical
Absztrakt
My thesis' main focus is theater and ballet, more precisely the historical stereotyping of the male ballet dancer from the 19th century, and an analysis of the recent hungarian production of the British West-End musical, the Billy Elliot Musical. The first part is a historical overview of the stereotype and it is followed by a review or analysis of the Hungarian version of the Billy Elliot musical. In my essay this hungarian version is being analysed based on gender and social stereotypes and notions, linked to the first part of the essay, the historical overview.
