dc.description.abstractA túlzott mértékű turizmus a pandémiát megelőző években a globális turizmus talán legkritikusabb kihívásává vált, amely jelentős gazdasági, társadalmi és környezeti hatásokat eredményezett. A téma iránti személyes és tudományos érdeklődésemen túl a kutatás tárgyának kiválasztását több tényező indokolta, melyek között megtalálható a jelenség nemzetközi jellege, a fenntarthatóság kérdéskörének bevonhatósága, a világjárvány okozta változások nyomon követésének lehetősége és az utazási szokások megváltozása is. Mindezeken túl korábbi tanulmányaim során (turizmus–vendéglátás BSc és nemzetközi gazdaság és gazdálkodás MSc) a turizmusmenedzsment és a nemzetközi folyamatok összefüggéseivel foglalkoztam, így a doktori kutatásom lehetőséget ad arra, hogy ezeket a területeket összekapcsolva komplexen vizsgáljam a túlzott turizmus jelenségét. Az utazás egyre népszerűbbé és elérhetőbbé válása az elmúlt évek turisztikai trendjeit erősítik. A globalizáció hatására a légi közlekedés is nagy tömegek számára a mindennapok részévé vált. Mindez hozzájárul ahhoz, hogy a turizmus egyre többek életében tölt be meghatározó szerepet, mint egy társadalmi-gazdasági jelenség. Az egyenlőtlenségek leküzdésének jó eszköze lehet a turizmus és a vendéglátás fejlődése, azonban nem szabad figyelmen kívül hagyni az idegenforgalom által okozott különbözőségeket sem. Míg egyes desztinációk – például Berlin, Párizs, Barcelona, Amszterdam, Velence – túlzottan nagy számú látogatót fogadnak, addig számos olyan település és régió ismert, melyek szívesen nyitnának a turisták felé. In the years leading up to the pandemic, overtourism became perhaps the most critical challenge for global tourism, with significant economic, social and environmental impacts. The decision to focus on this subject was motivated by a combination of personal and professional interests, as well as broader considerations. The international nature of the phenomenon, the inclusion of sustainability issues, the potential for monitoring changes caused by the pandemic, and the evolving patterns of travel were all factors that contributed to the choice of research topic. Moreover, the interdisciplinary character of my previous studies (a BSc in Tourism and Hospitality and an MSc in International Economy and Business) has fostered a keen interest in the relationship between tourism management and international processes, and my doctoral research offers the opportunity to combine these fields in a complex way in order to study the phenomenon of overtourism. The increasing popularity and accessibility of travel has reinforced the tourism trends of recent years. Globalization has also made air travel part of everyday life for a large number of people. This phenomenon, when considered in its broader socio-economic context, underscores the growing significance of tourism as a major economic force in many individuals' lives. While the development of tourism and hospitality can serve as a means to address inequalities, it is crucial to acknowledge and address the inequalities caused by tourism. While some destinations, such as Berlin, Paris, Barcelona, Amsterdam and Venice, receive an excessive number of visitors, there are many cities and regions that are open to tourists.
