A Parallel Corpus-Based Study of the Meaning of English and Hungarian Modals
Absztrakt
This paper is concerned with the properties of modal auxiliary verbs, namely with that of may and can. Their analysis is done from a semantic approach; their syntax is not discussed. The study is based on corpus analysis. Modality in Hungarian is introduced and exemplified, and compared to English where applicable.
