Food safety in Kenya has great potential in being improved however it faces few hindrances such as lack of capital to boost small scale industries like in the suburban areas to ensure they can maintain high level of hygiene. In addition to this there is also the issue of lack of consumer awareness which means that the public do not have the knowledge of proper food hygiene and this is one of the major causes of food borne diseases. Based on the analysis we can see that one of the common threats to food safety is corruption. Corruption is a common thing in most African countries, and this leads to production of low quality products as the laws are not being implemented. In my opinion harsh fines or more strict laws should be implemented in order to curb this situation. The respective governments should also increase the wages of the various institutions to reduce the corruption rate.
