It may be defined from various such points of view as clinical image, electrocardiogram results, biochemical markers, and background pathology. Myocardial infarction is a fatal condition resulting from lack of oxygen delivery to cardiac muscle cell leading necrosis of myocardium. The morbidity and mortality of MI is directly related to the severity of the illness, where it can be diagnosed and evaluated based on clinical assessment, electrocardiogram, biochemical examinations, invasive and non-invasive imaging. With rise of the ST segment in electrocardiography or without ST-segment elevation, it is a medical emergency, and the patients need to be transferred to hospital where they can be managed by effective myocardial reperfusion either by thrombolytic agents or percutaneous intervention that will aid to improve the prognosis.
