    The work represented in this thesis is a result of a cultivation of current known literature regarding Cone Beam CT imaging, and its possible integration into the periodontology domain. The aim of the work was to find areas in which CBCT may come as useful in the diagnosis and prognosis of periodontal disease, as well as investigate whether CBCT can possibly be normalized as a dependable diagnostic tool within the periodontology domain. The history in addition to the emergence of CBCT as a medical tool are discussed, and furthermore, its introduction into the dental field are also touched on.
